TIMOTHY MANALO
Featuring a series of hand-woven, naturally dyed textiles alongside cast sculptures, The Conspirators exhibition invites viewers to experience a blurring and traversal between the two mediums as they unfold within the gallery space. Drawing on the aesthetics of interiors and domestic environments, particularly export art such as fan wall hangings, exotic boxes, and memento mori objects, architecture serves as the primary inspiration for this new body of work.
Timothy Manalo is a Toronto-based sculpture, textile, and installation artist. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture and Installation from OCAD University in 2010, worked as a studio assistant and in-house sculptor for several companies, completed a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in Boston in 2019 where he also earned a Certificate in Museum Studies. His work has been featured in exhibitions across Canada and the United States, including at the Canadian Sculpture Centre in Toronto and The Sculpture Center in Cleveland.
